Coins in the Wrap!
Here’s some info on the coins for change:
|
On December 14th, we offered the children who play Club Penguin the opportunity to make a difference in the world. Over a 10-day period, we invited them to donate the virtual coins they earned by playing games on Club Penguin to supporting the environment, children’s health or children in developing countries. In turn, the New Horizon Foundation, an organization started by the co-founders of Club Penguin, committed to donate $1 million real cash to be shared among three organizations chosen to represent those categories. The amount of money each group received would be determined based on how much support it received from the kids. Our goal with the Coins for Change campaign was simple: to cultivate a spirit of giving and empower the children who play Club Penguin to affect real change in a way that truly matters to them. After hearing from countless Club Penguin fans looking for ways they could help others and make a difference, we were confident Coins for Change was something kids would get excited about. When the campaign wrapped up on December 24th, we were delighted with the final results. In less than two weeks, over 2.5 million kids around the world embraced the spirit of giving and enthusiastically donated their virtual coins to Coins for Change. The sum total of that generosity translates into substantial financial donations to the three organizations selected to share in the $1 million gift. The World Wildlife Federation (www.worldwildlife.org) will receive $330,000 towards its efforts to protect the planet and help build a future where people live in harmony with nature. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (www.pedaids.org), which works to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eradicate AIDS in children around the world, will receive $394,000, while $276,000 will go to Free The Children (www.freethechildren.com), whose primary goals are to free children from poverty and exploitation and free young people from the notion they are powerless to affect positive change. We hope Coins for Change helps everyone who took part gain a vision of how they can make a difference in the world.” Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!and a Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Whoops!
Club penguin accidentally put out the new free item (scarf) and took out the Coins For Change (only some people can see the scarf)! The problem should be fixed by Monday, December 24th, 2007 (Christmas Eve). So if you notice some people walking around Club Penguin with a red and green scarf on, they have the new free item. If you didn’t get the scarf than you’ll have to wait till the 24th!

My favorite part is the trains in the Forest, but as always, we would love to hear about your favorite part! Some of you have been asking why we didn’t do the Christmas tree decoration like last year. Lets try to make this the best time of year in Club Penguin by being as friendly and helpful as possible. Saving for Coins for Change
BillyBob just wanted to tell us to save your coins because they’ve got some really cool stuff coming up over the next few weeks. First off, the “Coins for Change” project starts on Friday which allows you to give your coins to help three different charities. Once you’ve given away some coins, you’ll want some coins for the new furniture catalog coming out this week. Try your best to decorate your igloo for the Holiday igloo contest and you could win 10,000 more coins!
Along with that, a new show starts at the Stage on Friday so you’ll want to pick up a few costumes and join in or take a seat and watch the production. He will give us a hint about this new theme and say it’s something many of you have asked for. He can also tell us it’s not a Christmas theme. They thought with the upcoming Christmas party, it would be neat to have something different for the Stage.
In other news: Be sure to check out the new comic in the “fun stuff” section of the website and let them know what you think!
